Overview
<p>BB&GG uses a rapid process to convert human hair and poultry feathers into a natural liquid fertilizer rich in minerals and micronutrients, turning long-lived municipal and poultry waste into an agricultural input.</p>
Problem and Innovation
Keratin-rich hair and feather waste can take decades to decompose and commonly goes to landfill. The startup's process converts this material into fertilizer in about 50 minutes.
Circular-Economy Impact
The venture uses waste streams already collected by civic bodies and the poultry sector, creating a cost-effective, natural input for Indian agriculture while reducing pressure on landfills.
Milestones and Recognition
Ahmer received a BIRAC BIG grant of Rs 50 lakh, incubation and grant support under RKVY-RAFTAAR, won the SOLVED Challenge 2021 organized with UNDP/UNV and the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and won the I2EDC Million Dollar Ideas pitch-deck challenge 2022 at IIT Jammu.
Future Plans
Develop additional uses for keratin waste, including feed applications, and make the fertilizer available to farmers across India.
